Vū Studio ReleaseSeptember 30, 2026
· 14 min read
This release adds a new Gallery app and one-click galleries from a folder, lets Vū AI build and edit canvas designs, and brings timed canvas slide shows with a persistent live video feed. It also adds UDP streams as a media source, reserved schedule windows that restrict who can cast, a list view for the library, and a large set of Display Dashboard fixes for scenes and multi-display players.
Planned maintenance window: Scheduled for the afternoon on release day. There should be no interruption to website availability or your online account.
Highlights
- Galleries: a new Gallery app, plus one-click galleries from a folder. The new Gallery app, on the Home screen, is one place to create, browse, search, edit, and cast your galleries. Pick images and videos from your library, set their order, and choose a look: a Grid, Mosaic, or Repeat arrangement (Repeat tiles a logo into a branded backdrop), an ambient Motion, and a Hover effect such as Lens, which magnifies the cells under the pointer and roams on its own on walls without a mouse. You can also right-click a Library folder and choose Create Gallery to turn its images and videos into a gallery in one step. Galleries made either way appear together in the Gallery app, are saved as library assets, and cast like any other asset. A gallery made from a folder is a snapshot; run Create Gallery again to refresh it. (VU-2538, VU-3184) Learn how to create and manage galleries →
- Vū AI can build and edit canvas designs. Ask Vū AI to generate a canvas design or to make changes to an existing one. (VU-2992) Learn how to build a design with Vū AI →
- Timed canvas slide shows with a persistent live video. Canvas slides can now stay on screen for a set duration and then advance to the next slide automatically. You can also keep a live video feed, such as an NDI or UDP stream, playing in the center of the screen while advertisements rotate around it on a timer. (VU-3173, VU-3174) Learn how to set up a timed slide show → Keep a live feed on screen →
- UDP streams as a media source. UDP stream URLs can now be used as a media source in Vū Studio, so live feeds such as cable TV or internal video distribution can be shown on your displays. (VU-2876) Learn how to add a UDP stream →
- Reserve a window and restrict who can cast. When you schedule a Reserve block, you can now turn on Restrict who can cast and list the email addresses allowed to use those displays. During the window, scheduled content is blocked and only the listed people can put anything on the displays. (VU-1795) See how to restrict a reservation →
- List view for the library. Switch the library from the tile grid to rows to browse folders and assets as a list. (VU-1171) See how to switch views →
Improvements
- Team admins can set default settings for shared Vū Intelligence sessions. (VU-3026) See the session defaults →
- A calendar/day view for Vū Intelligence sessions makes it easier to find what happened on a given date, and each session's start and end times are now stored so search can use them. (VU-3059) Learn how to find sessions by date →
- Vū Intelligence insights are now proactive rather than just a record of what was said. Risks and blind spots, including ones nobody raised, appear under Tensions, and suggested action items appear under Opportunities. Each insight still falls under one of the same four categories. (VU-3101) See how insights work →
- Anything typed in chat during a running Vū Intelligence session is added to the session transcript under the sender's name, so it feeds the session's insights. This covers chat in a Zoom, Meet, or Teams call and the in-app session chat. (VU-3102) Learn how chat counts as session input →
- Save a Vū Intelligence session's settings so new sessions start with them. (VU-3104) See how session presets work →
- After a Vū Intelligence session ends, its owner can edit the transcript, and the session can be exported as a timestamped transcript or as a CSV of its insights. (VU-3234) Learn how to edit and export →
- Vū Intelligence sessions have a new Cards view, and transcript lines the service was less sure of are marked as low confidence. (VU-3235) See the Cards view →
- Vū Intelligence transcribes in English by default, with a per-session setting for the spoken language and a field for names and jargon, and speaker attribution is more accurate. (VU-3236) Learn how to choose the spoken language →
- A Mostly about card shows the themes a session kept coming back to, each insight is labelled with the kind of claim it makes, and the mind map shows how strongly ideas are connected. (VU-3237) See how insights are labelled →
- When a recording has more than one audio source, such as your microphone and an online meeting, each source is transcribed separately, and speakers are labelled by source. (VU-3239) Learn how separate sources are labelled →
- Vū AI chats can be shared with other people and linked to a folder. Everyone in the chat works with the same AI conversation, anything Vū AI creates there is filed in the linked folder, and access to the chat follows that folder's sharing. (VU-3107) Learn how to start a project chat →
- A canvas design can be published to the Experiences module as a Session. (VU-3046) Learn how a canvas Session works →
- Canvas designs are now library assets. They appear in the Library and in search, and you can move, rename, favorite, copy, delete, and cast them like any other asset. Sharing follows folder permissions: viewers open a design read-only and can cast it, and editors and owners can edit it. Add Media also has a Canvas shortcut. (VU-3118) Learn about canvas designs in your library →
- Microsites have a feedback mode. Turn it on when you publish, and visitors can leave feedback without signing in. You see each piece of feedback in the microsite editor, tied to the version the visitor was viewing, and you can point Vū AI at it to revise the site. (VU-3108) See how to collect feedback →
- Vū AI can see a microsite's version history. Ask it what changed between versions, or to restore an earlier one; it asks you to confirm before restoring. (VU-3109) Learn more about version history →
- Vū AI can add a Vū Intelligence session to a microsite as a mind map or a flow view. (VU-3092) See how to show a session in a microsite →
- Any microsite can be saved as a reusable template, for yourself or for everyone on your team, and new microsites can start from a saved template. (VU-3105) Learn how to save a template →
- A canvas Send Content action can now send a canvas page to another display, from the current design or another canvas design, in addition to images, videos, and web assets. (VU-3137) Learn how to set it up →
- Canvas buttons can send OSC messages when pressed, for example to switch a video input. This works with the new OSC output support in the Vū Studio Player desktop app. (VU-3135) Learn how to send OSC from a button →
- Hidden pages in a canvas design now look more muted in the pages list, so they are easier to tell apart from visible pages. (VU-3130) See how hiding pages works →
- Duplicated canvas objects and pages are now created directly below the item you duplicated, and pasted elements land where you paste them instead of on top of the original. (VU-3132, VU-2911) Learn more →
- The Schedule Playback window has a new layout: a flat Play / Wake / Sleep / Reserve action row, fields in a top-down order, five-minute time dropdowns, an optional end time behind Add end time, and a summary of the event before you submit. Scheduling behavior is unchanged. (VU-3119) See the step-by-step guide →
- A recurring playback series no longer stalls silently after one failed dispatch. (VU-2953) Learn how recurring schedules behave →
- Select multiple completed scheduled jobs in the Display Dashboard and clear them at once. (VU-1894) See how to clear completed jobs →
- Clear All Displays in Live mode now asks for confirmation before clearing. (VU-3080) Learn more →
- Scene assets are now supported when casting a folder from the Display Dashboard. Scenes play in folder order with their layout, Scene Transform settings, and layer order intact, use the folder's duration setting, and work with looping. (VU-3156) See how scenes play in a folder →
- Images can be dragged from the media panel into a playlist, and the playlist Edit window now matches the Create window. (VU-3180) Learn how to build a playlist →
- The MQTT connection setting is now stored as a user preference. (VU-3081) See the connection settings →
- The Media Audit report now counts an asset once for each continuous appearance on screen, even when several copies of it are shown at the same time, and it now includes media shown inside canvas designs. The new counting applies to past data and to the CSV export. (VU-3117) Learn where to generate the report →
- The operator menu in the Vū Studio Player desktop app now includes status, licensing, and system controls. (VU-3100) See the operator options →
- The Windows build of the Vū Studio Player desktop app is now code-signed, so a fresh install shows the publisher name instead of "Unknown publisher." Windows SmartScreen may still show a warning on some fresh installs for a while as the app builds reputation. (VU-3065) See the Windows install steps →
- The Vū Studio Player desktop app can send OSC output using the same command schema as the Vū Media Server. (VU-3168) See the OSC output settings →
- The Vū Studio Player desktop app remembers its window size and position and reopens where you left it. If your monitor setup changes, the window is kept on screen. (VU-3177) Learn more →
- Asset URLs are refreshed automatically when Vū Studio reconnects to a Vū Media Server or Web Player, so content stays available if Vū Studio is left open overnight. (VU-2286)
- The Home Screen has a new layout, and you can ask Vū AI a question straight from the Home Screen search bar. (VU-3247) See the new Home Screen →
- An empty Library folder, or a view where your filters hide everything, now explains why and offers Add Media or Clear filters. (VU-3229) Learn more →
- Application assets can now launch a macOS app (
.app) as well as a Windows program (.exe) on the Vū Studio Player desktop app. (VU-3169) Learn how to run an application →
Fixes
- Recalling a scene without pixel mapping after a pixel-mapped scene now resets the lights to the recalled scene's saved values. (VU-2677)
- Clicking Continue a second time while a Vū Media Server update is already downloading no longer interrupts the update. (VU-2791)
- In some cases, casting a scene with videos and an animated background in Present Mode ended the cast before the videos finished; the scene now stays up until its videos complete. (VU-3016)
- The Whole scene container in scene transform controls is now collapsible, and Flip is sent to the player right away. (VU-3098)
- Under certain circumstances the Facilitator did not auto-join calendar events for some users; auto-join is more reliable and better logged. (VU-3113)
- Image, video, PDF, and MXF assets now show the correct type icon in the Display Dashboard My Media tray and elsewhere, instead of the web globe icon. (VU-3120, VU-3122)
- Add Media now works inside the My Assets folder. (VU-3123)
- Opening the Schedule tab in list view no longer scrolls the list/calendar toggle and Schedule button off screen. (VU-3124)
- The Exit/Reset button label in the Vū Studio Player desktop app no longer overlaps. (VU-3125)
- The Vū Studio Player desktop app now uses only the screens you configured, instead of taking over both screens on launch. (VU-3126)
- Canvas AI generation handles referenced assets, button labels, cropped content, overlapping groups, and theme changes across all pages more reliably. (VU-3127)
- 1080i NDI feeds no longer flash green on screens. (VU-3140)
- Navigation bar items now appear in the expected order. (VU-3145)
- The screensaver activates only when nothing is being cast and the player has been idle for the time set in Settings, and it is dismissed by mouse or keyboard activity or by starting playback from Vū Studio. (VU-3147)
- Casting a folder in Live or Planning mode now shows a message when some assets were skipped. (VU-3148)
- A newly cast folder no longer inherits duration and volume settings from the previously cast folder. (VU-3149)
- Casting a folder to a secondary display on a multi-display player now sends it to the display you selected. (VU-3150)
- Scene elements no longer disappear after changing Scene Transform in the Display Dashboard. (VU-3151)
- Copying and pasting a scene between displays now keeps each asset's Scene Transform settings. (VU-3152)
- Undo and Redo now include Scene Transform changes. (VU-3153)
- Casting a Playlist to a multi-display player now asks which display should receive it. (VU-3155)
- Vū AI can occasionally have trouble finding a session by name; this is more reliable now, the chat transcript shows the 100 most recent messages, and automation setup handles prerequisites up front. (VU-3157)
- Applying Flip H or Flip V to a scene no longer hides some of its layers. (VU-3159)
- Clear All Displays now clears every display on a multi-display Vū Studio Player desktop app. (VU-3160)
- On multi-display players, display selection now follows your click, an empty display shows No Media Selected, and Exit Playback affects only the display previewed in the Remote. (VU-3161)
- Scene Transform values are now kept after a page refresh and are sent to the player when you click Go Live from Planning mode. (VU-3162)
- Paste is now available when the Display Dashboard is locked; the lock only prevents changes to display size and position. (VU-3176)
- The Remote now stays on a layer's settings while you edit it, instead of returning to the main scene view. (VU-3179)
- Scene previews in the library Gallery View now match their size in the Remote, and a multi-display scene cast to all displays now appears in the Remote. (VU-3186)
- In some cases, Load More in Unsplash image search repeated the same images, and the Shutterstock section could stop loading; both now page reliably. (VU-3091)
- A single-layer scene sometimes fell out of sync between the preview and the player after a Scene Transform change; it now stays in sync. (VU-3154)
- Your Vū AI token balance no longer goes below zero when scheduled automations run. (VU-3213)
- Recurring Sleep and Wake schedules now keep running after one failed occurrence, and failure messages name the players that did not respond. (VU-3214)
- Library images added to a published microsite now appear for visitors without publishing again. (VU-3220)
- Canvas designs could occasionally be missing from the Library or appear in the wrong place; they now show up where they belong, and My Assets has a Canvas filter. (VU-3221)
- Vū Intelligence insights are shorter and draw conclusions from the discussion instead of restating it. (VU-3223)
- Vū AI now recalls details discussed earlier in a meeting more reliably when you ask about them. (VU-3224)
- Touch input and two-finger zoom may not have worked in Vū players on some touchscreens; this is now fixed. (VU-3225)
