Settings
The Settings page is where you manage the connected Vū Media Server, the players bound to your account, your software updates, and experimental features.
Open it from the left sidebar → Settings, or from the profile menu (top right) → Settings.
Don't confuse the Settings page with the Device Settings panel (sliders icon in the top-right header). Device Settings is a slide-out for live wall adjustments — Sound (Volume), Image (Brightness), Lighting, and background Music. The Settings page covers player configuration and account-level settings.
Current Vū Media Player Connection
The top section shows your active connection:
- Connection — the connected player's name, with the software version (e.g.
v2026.4.41-P) - Connect form — type a player name or short ID and click Connect to switch
Below that, an Actions row offers:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Check For Updates | Check whether a newer version of the Vū Media Server software is available |
| Settings | Open the Media Server Settings panel — configure the splash screen and screen saver on the connected player. Visible to Admins of the media server only. |
| Show QR Code | Display the connection QR code (the same one shown on the splash screen) |
| Send Logs | Package and send diagnostic logs to Vū support |
| Restart Media Server | Remotely restart the Vū Media Server software on the connected Windows machine |
Media Server Settings
The Settings button opens the Media Server Settings panel. These are settings for the Vū Media Server on the player you are currently connected to. This panel is only accessible if you are an Admin of that media server.
Splash Screen
Configure what is displayed on the player's splash screen (the screen shown when no content is playing):
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Welcome Message | Custom text shown on the splash screen. Defaults to "Welcome to Vū Studio" |
| Welcome Message Font Style | Bold, italic, and underline formatting options for the welcome message |
| Show QR Code | Show or hide the connection QR code on the splash screen |
| Show Connected User | Display the name of the currently connected user |
| Show Time | Display the current time |
| Show Logo | Show the Vū Studio logo or your custom logo |
| Show Apps | Show available app shortcuts on the splash screen |
| Show Screen Share | Show the screen share option on the splash screen |
| Show Connection Border | Show a visual border indicating connection status |
| Logo Image | Upload a custom logo image (max 512px) to replace the default Vū logo on the splash screen |
Screen Saver
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Timeout Duration (Minutes) | Number of minutes of inactivity before the screen saver activates. Default is 30 minutes |
Use Save to apply changes or Reset to restore defaults.
The Timeout Duration controls when the screen saver activates. To set what plays as the screen saver, right-click any asset in the Asset Library and choose Set as Screensaver. See The Library →.
To set a custom splash screen background (the image shown when no content is playing), right-click any asset in the Library and choose Set as Splash. See The Library →.
Manage Media Players
This section lets you configure each player bound to your account:
- Player — picker for which player you're editing
- Name — rename the player
- Mode — choose Demo or Session mode
- Demo Mode — anyone can connect to the wall by scanning the QR code on the splash screen. Use for shared studios and open demo environments.
- Session Mode — controlled access. As an admin you create specific sessions and only invited users can connect. Use for production environments and customer-facing kiosks.
- Generate Media Audit Report — generate a report of all media that has been played on the connected media server. Useful for compliance, usage tracking, and for organizations using their media server to sell advertising time.
- Vū Media Server License — shows who owns and registered the license, the license UUID, and a Revoke license button to release it
See Demo & Session Mode → for the full details on the two modes.
Experimental Settings (Beta)
The Experimental Settings section exposes features that are still in beta. They can be changed at any time as we iterate.
Connection Type
Choose how the app communicates with players:
- MQTT — faster connection times, experimental
- WebSocket — the original connection method
There is also a Bypass WebRTC (Admin only) toggle that sends all commands over MQTT and skips WebRTC entirely. This is intended for network environments where WebRTC is blocked or restricted.
Match Library Items to Connected Display's Aspect Ratio
When enabled, media thumbnails in the library grid are resized to reflect the aspect ratio of the active display. Defaults to 16:9 when no display is connected.
Connection Dashboard
View detailed connection and network diagnostics for troubleshooting and advanced setup. Click View Dashboard to open the diagnostics panel.
