Sharing Folders
Folder sharing in Vū Studio lets you collaborate on media assets with team members, clients, or other operators. You can share any folder with granular View or Edit permissions.
Creating a Folder
- Go to Library in Vū Studio
- Click New Folder
- Enter a descriptive name and confirm
Sharing a Folder
Once your folder contains media you want to share:
Option A — Right-click method:
- Right-click on the folder in your library
- Select Sharing
Option B — Open folder method:
- Open the folder
- Click the Sharing icon in the top right
Then: 3. Enter the email addresses of the people you want to share with 4. Add an optional message 5. Set their permission level — View (can see and play content) or Edit (can add, move, and delete files) 6. Click Share
The recipients will receive an email notification with a link to the shared folder.
Managing Permissions
To review or change who has access to a folder:
- Right-click the folder → Sharing (or open the folder and click the Sharing icon)
- You'll see the current list of users with access
- You can change their permission level or revoke access entirely
Team Sharing
If you're on a Team plan, you can share folders with your entire team at once through Team → Share Storage. This makes the folder and its contents accessible to all team members.
Best Practices
- Use clear, descriptive folder names so collaborators know what's inside
- Review shared folder access periodically to remove users who no longer need it
- Use View access for clients or read-only collaborators; reserve Edit for active team members
- Create separate folders per project to keep sharing permissions tidy
