Organizing Folders

Folders keep your media library tidy as your content collection grows. You can nest folders as deeply as you need, move assets between folders, and share specific folders with collaborators.

Creating a Folder

  1. In the Library, click New Folder
  2. Enter a name and confirm

Folders can be created at the root level of your Personal library or nested inside existing folders.

Naming Conventions

A consistent naming system makes it much easier to find content — especially in shared environments. Some approaches that work well:

  • By project: 2025-Samsung-Launch, FedEx-Cup-Playoffs
  • By content type: Backgrounds, Logos, Videos, Overlays
  • By location/zone: Lobby, Stage-Left, Conference-Room-A
  • By date: 2026-Q1, March-Events

Pick a convention and stick to it. For team environments, agree on a naming standard before everyone starts creating folders.

Moving Assets and Folders

To move a file or folder:

  1. Right-click the item → Move
  2. Browse to the destination folder
  3. Confirm

You can also drag and drop assets between folders in the grid view.

Deleting Folders

Right-click a folder → Delete. Deleting a folder also deletes all assets inside it. This cannot be undone, so be sure before confirming.

warning

Deleting a folder with shared content will remove access for all users the folder was shared with. Let collaborators know before deleting shared folders.

List View and File Details

You can switch your uploads folder to a list view to see details about your files. The list view lets you sort by date uploaded, making it easy to review your stored content — for example, to check the age of files for data-retention purposes.

Folders in Search Results

When you search, folders that match your search criteria appear in the search results alongside matching files, so you can jump straight to a matching folder.

Integrations Folder

Cloud integrations live in their own folder node — an Integrations section on the library homepage and a top-level, expandable Integrations node in the left sidebar. See Cloud Integrations → for details.

When you're inside a nested folder, the breadcrumb trail at the top of the library shows your location: Library > Client Work > Samsung > Backgrounds. Click any breadcrumb to jump back up to that level.

Tips

  • Create a Templates or Scenes folder at the root level to keep saved scenes separate from raw media
  • For active productions, create a dated project folder so everything from that shoot stays together
  • Archive old projects by moving them into an _Archive folder rather than deleting them — storage is cheap and you may need them again
