Connecting to a Player
A player is any display running the Vū Media Server software. Before you can control content on a screen, you need to connect Vū Studio to that player.
Connection Methods
QR Code (Fastest)
Every player shows a QR code on its splash screen when idle.
- Open your phone's camera and point it at the QR code
- Tap the link that appears
- Log in to your Vū account if prompted
- You're connected
By ID or Name
- In Vū Studio, click the connection indicator in the top bar (the circle icon — red when disconnected)
- Type the player's name or numeric ID into the search box
- Select it from the results
The player ID is displayed below the QR code on the splash screen.
From the Dashboard
- Go to Library → Dashboard
- All your registered players appear as cards
- Click any card to connect
What Happens When You Connect
- The connection indicator turns green and shows the player name
- The player's splash screen shows your account name in the bottom right corner
- You can now browse the library and cast content
Connection Indicator States
| Indicator | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 🔴 Red | Not connected |
| 🟡 Yellow flashing | Connecting / trying to reach player |
| 🟢 Green + name | Connected and ready |
Multiple Players
You can only be actively controlling one player at a time from a single browser tab. To control multiple players simultaneously, use Player Groups — see Player Groups →.
To switch players, click the connection indicator and search for a different player.
Connection Requirements
For the connection to succeed:
- The Windows machine must be powered on and running the Vū Media Server software
- Both the Windows machine and your controlling device need internet access
- The player's Wall ID must match your account (i.e. you registered it or it was shared with you)
If connection fails, see Connection Troubleshooting →.
