Themes
A theme is a saved set of content assigned to the players in a player group. Themes let you configure what plays across a group of displays and recall or schedule that configuration later. Themes are managed from the Display Dashboard.
Creating a Theme
Creating a new theme follows the same flow as creating a new player group: you name it up front rather than getting a default placeholder name.
There are two ways to start a new theme from the dashboard:
- Click + New in the theme controls. The button slides open a name input field — type a name and confirm to create the theme.
- If no theme is currently loaded, use the New Theme button in the control bar, which opens the same name input field.
Type a name (at least one character) and confirm. The name you enter is used for the new theme instead of the default "New Theme" name.
Creating a theme with + New produces an empty theme and leaves the board and the currently loaded theme untouched — it doesn't clear or capture whatever you're currently working on. To save the content you've composed on the board into a theme, use Save Theme (see Saving a Theme).
Loading a Theme
Load a saved theme to apply its configuration, including all of its associated assets. A theme loads the same way regardless of whether it was originally saved from Live Mode or Planning Mode, and its assets are displayed when loaded.
Scheduling a Theme
You can schedule themes directly from the dashboard:
- Open the theme schedule modal on the dashboard.
- Create a theme playback event with a start time (and a stop time, if desired).
- At the scheduled time, the theme plays on the correct players in the player group.
The dashboard control bar shows a notification of the next scheduled theme event. See Scheduling → for more on the scheduler.
Saving a Theme
Use the Save Theme button in the Display Dashboard control bar to save the content currently composed on the board. When you save, Vū Studio asks whether you want to update an existing theme or create a new one:
- Overwrite — replace the currently loaded theme with the current content, keeping the same theme name.
- Save as New — save the current content as a brand-new theme. Enter a name for it, and the new theme becomes the active theme.
You can also cancel out of the dialog without saving.
If there's no content cast to the displays when you click Save Theme, there's nothing to save — cast some content to the group first, then save it as a theme.
