Light Groups
Light Groups let you bundle multiple fixtures together and control them as a single unit. Instead of adjusting each light individually, you can control brightness, color, and power for an entire zone with one slider or toggle.
Creating a Light Group
- Open the right-side slide-out remote in Vū Studio and click the Lighting tab
- Click New Group
- Give the group a name (e.g. "Stage Left", "Ceiling Wash", "Backlight Strip")
- Select the fixtures to include
- Save
Controlling a Group
Once created, the group appears as a card in the Lighting tab with:
- Intensity slider — scales all fixtures proportionally
- Color sliders (RGB groups) — applies the same color to all fixtures
- Hue / Saturation / Temperature (HSI groups) — unified color control
Individual fixture settings within the group are still accessible by expanding the group card.
RGB Light Groups
Groups support full RGB control (added February 2026). For RGB fixtures:
- Use the color picker to set a unified color across the group
- The intensity slider scales the overall brightness independently of color
- Individual RGB sliders are available per fixture for fine adjustment
Installed vs. Scene-Level Groups
Installed light groups are permanently configured groups for a specific player installation. They persist across sessions and are available to all users connected to that player.
Scene-level lighting lets you override group settings per scene. When a scene is loaded, the lighting snaps to that scene's saved group states. See Scenes →.
Pixel Mapping Integration
Light groups can be linked to pixel mapping zones — areas of LED strips or matrices that mirror specific regions of the display output. See Pixel Mapping →.
Tips
- Create groups that match the physical zones of your installation ("Front wash", "Side fills", "Back wall")
- Save a lighting preset after setting up each group for easy recall
- For virtual production, create a "Practical Kill" group containing all the lights you want to quickly cut during a shot
