Lighting Control System Setup
This article covers the steps to connect and configure Aputure lighting fixtures for use with Vū Studio via DMX/CRMX. This example uses the Vū One Mini which comes with two Aputure Infinibar lights. Additional Aputure lights can be added to any system and are available for purchase through Vū.
System Components
Ensure the following devices are connected to power, powered on, and connected to the internet where applicable:
- LED Display
- Left & Right Aputure Infinibar lights
- A tablet, laptop, or phone capable of accessing Vū Studio in a browser
- Vū Media Server (small PC, e.g. NUC) — must be hardwired to the internet
- CRMX Transmitter — either a Sidus One or an Enttec DMX box + Godox CRMX transmitter
Sidus One vs Enttec/Godox
Some installations use a Sidus One transmitter. Others use an Enttec DMX box with a Godox CRMX transmitter.
The Sidus One must be connected to a separate power supply — not the Vū Media Server USB port. Connecting it to the PC can cause reconnection issues after a shutdown or restart.
Setup Step 1 — Verify Connections
On the back of the display/system, confirm:
- HDMI cable connected from the Vū Media Server to the Display processor
- Ethernet from the Vū Media Server to the Vū Ubiquiti switch (then to site internet or Vū Core 5G hotspot)
- USB-C power connected to the Sidus One (separate supply) or Godox CRMX transmitter
If using Enttec:
- USB-C from the Godox CRMX transmitter to power
- Godox connected to a port on the Enttec box
- Enttec connected to the Vū Ubiquiti switch via Ethernet
- Note which port the Godox is on — Port 1 = Universe 0, Port 2 = Universe 1
The Enttec box (and any connected cameras) must be on the same network segment and IP range as the Vū Media Server. If there is no spare network port on site, connect the Enttec's Ethernet directly to the Vū Media Server computer, then press F12 to open the Operator Menu and, under Operator Options → Network Adapter, select the IP address of the network that should carry the lighting commands.
Setup Step 2 — Connect Media Server to Sidus One Wi-Fi (Sidus only)
Skip this step if using Enttec/Godox or Vū Core.
- Ensure the Vū Media Server is connected to Ethernet for internet access
- Also connect the Media Server to the Sidus One Wi-Fi network (it will show "No internet" — that's expected)
- Press F12 on the keyboard to open the Operator Menu in Vū Studio
- Click the Network Adapter dropdown and select the
192.168.x.xaddress of the Sidus One - Click Quit and restart the Vū Media Server software
Setup Step 3 — Connect Vū Media Server to Sidus One Wi-Fi (Sidus only)
Skip this step if using Enttec/Godox or Vū Core.
- On the Media Server, open the Vū Media Server software and press F12 to open the Operator Menu
- On the Options tab, click the Network Adapter dropdown
- Select the Sidus One IP address (typically the second IP shown, e.g.
192.168.1.100) - Exit the Operator Menu
Setup Step 4 — Configure DMX Settings on Each Light
On each physical Aputure light fixture:
- Open the light's menu and navigate to DMX Settings (On some lights you may first need to select DMX Mode)
- Select DMX Profile → select 5. HSI 8bit
- Go back to DMX Settings → select DMX Loss Behavior → set to Hold Last Setting
- Go back to DMX Settings → select DMX Address and set the channel:
- Left Infinibar → Channel 1
- Right Infinibar → Channel 10
- Additional lights → leave a gap of at least 5 channels between each
Each HSI 8-bit light uses 5 channels (Intensity, Hue, Saturation, Temperature, Strobe). Leave at least 5 unused channels between lights to avoid conflicts.
- Leave the light in the DMX Settings menu or on the DMX Address setting — this helps ensure DMX remains active.
Setup Step 5 — Pair Lights via CRMX
The pairing button and the light menu both need to be activated quickly in sequence.
- Press the round CRMX button on the front of the Sidus One or Godox transmitter
- Quickly on the light fixture: open the menu → CRMX Settings → ON
- The light should show Pairing then Success
- If previously paired to another system: unpair the light, turn CRMX off, turn it back on, then press the transmitter button again
- Repeat for each light
Setup Step 6 — Connect Vū Studio to the Media Server
- On your tablet or browser device, open one.vu.studio and log in
- Open Settings (gear icon, top right)
- Verify the 4-character Media Server ID matches the Wall ID shown on the splash screen
- If they don't match, type the correct ID and click Connect
- The connection indicator turns green when connected
Setup Step 7 — Confirm Light Channels in Vū Studio
- In Vū Studio, open the right-side control menu (remote control)
- Click the Lighting tab
- Select Lightbar - Left from the light dropdown
- Click the settings wheel (⚙️) to open its configuration. If it doesn't exist yet, click + to add a new light.
- Set Universe to 1 for all lights (For Enttec: match Universe to the Godox port — Port 1 = Universe 0, Port 2 = Universe 1)
- Set the channels to match what you configured on the physical light. For the default setup:
Left Infinibar (base channel 1):

- Click Save after configuring each light
- Select All Lights from the dropdown and move the sliders — both lights should respond
Adding Additional Lights
- In Vū Studio → Lighting tab → click + next to the light dropdown
- Enter a name for the new light
- Set Universe to match your other lights
- Set the first channel (Intensity) to the DMX address you configured on the physical light
- The next 4 channels follow sequentially
- Click Save
If Light A uses channels 1–5 and Light B starts at channel 5, their channels overlap and both lights will behave unpredictably. Always leave enough gap — at least 5 channels — between each light's base address.
